PHOTO PROMPT © Fatima Fakier Deria
Half startled, quarter irritated and the last quarter tolerant towards her co–intern, “I’m sorry”, Crownie said.
“I’m just too tired to be good company today.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, Crownie”, Magnolia said a bit soberly,
“I didn’t know”.
Then Magnolia perked up again,
“Oh I know!”
Really. Crownie thought, as she raised her brows.
“I need to see my mum in Venice. Plus, I have been assigned to spy rare fabrics/accessories there. Maybe you could come with me? To enjoy the view and the water. What do you say?”
Magnolia brightened and vibrated her idea, which Crownie, a hydrophobic wasn’t buying. . .

Dear Ade-Oluwa,
Sounds like Magnolia is one who is one who doesn’t follow through.
Shalom,

Can you please explain what you mean? I don’t understand.

It sounded to me like Magnolia was suggesting Crownie should go with her to Venice. But Crownie doesn’t believe Magnolia can keep a promise. I could be reading it wrong but that was my impression.

That’s quite interesting. 🤔 I guess I have to read the story again to find what you’re seeing. 😊

I see it more as Crownie is just a downer while Magnolia is fun and trying so hard (and not succeeding) in bringing Crownie’s spirits up…

Hmmm, you may be right.

If Crownie doesn’t like water then probably best not to go to Venice! She doesn’t sound a very uplifting travelling companion either.

Hmmm. You have a good point. As beautiful as Venice may be, if one is afraid of water, one wouldn’t enjoy the place.
I think Magnolia made the suggestion thinking the water will help uplift Crownie’s spirit.
And it might have been an ideal trip, if she wasn’t scared of water.

I’d not even have bothered with Crownie, doesn’t sound like she’d be much fun. Enjoyed the dialogue between these two very different characters.

Yeah well. The vibrant ones are usually drawn to the seemly silent ones. It may be because Magnolia saw something in Crownie that she wants to be a part. I’m glad you enjoyed the dialogue. 🙂
