Let Your Light Shine!

  • Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is therefore good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
  •  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
  • Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
  • Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.              Matthew 5:13-16

Hello all.🌿 It is said that to whom much is given, much is expected. If you are reading this, then you have life. And where there’s life, there’s hope. Hope means expectation. Along with that we have time.

However, we are in a race against time. Time waits for no one, so we all need to make the best of the time we have been gifted with.

Life is a gift, but it’s lent to us, we can’t say when it will be required of us. The gift of life is lent to us, that we may add meaning to living.

We are additions therefore we must add positivity, to whomever and anywhere we find our selves.

We are gifted to be a gift to someone, to make positive impact. We have hope so we can bring hope to others.

“Do unto others, what you want others to do for you”, takes on a whole new meaning. Be or give that, which you desire to receive. If you want to be honoured, honour others. If you want mercy, be merciful. Be prepared to give what you want coming to you.

You have no business expecting understanding, if you refuse to understand others. Like they say, “Respect is earned, not demanded”. When you give respect, then you have earned it.

There’s this prayer recently circulating in the church. It says, ‘Lord, help me empty myself before I’m called home.’ A very deep prayer, because the cemetery is the richest place in the world. Why? The cemetery has many hit songs that were never song; life changing inventions that were never created. Innovative ideas that were never executed. Best selling books that were never written. Contributions that were never made; additions that were never added. Impart that was never made. A rich place of buried talents, potentials, and gifts.

Let’s empty ourselves, because the more you give, the more you receive. Let’s not hoard our love, affection, advice, warmth, smile, word of encouragement, companionship, friendship, laughter, etc. You never know which of these will be a life safer to someone. It doesn’t have to be grand or win an award, it just has to come naturally from your heart. What comes naturally from your heart, your soul and spirit is who you are, and if it changes people for the best then keep giving it.

Don’t say, “I worked hard to get this and I’m not giving it away. It’s mine.” Maybe, but do you really want all the good things to have worked so hard to become, to die with you?! Because that’s what’s going to happen, if you do not confer it to someone or people for continuity. It’s called, ‘leaving your footprints, in the sand of time’.

The people we read about in history and we quote or apply their intellect, remedy to our lives; people of old we gain knowledge, enlightenment and so on from; are people who gave their gains, emptied themselves of one thing or the other. And that is how they left their footprints in the sand of time. What we benefit today from these ancient  heroes and heroines may have made no sense to the people of their time. It may have earned them the title of a ‘mad person’. They may have been jailed or killed for it, but that is because what they had to give was not meant for their times, but for the future. And the people, maltreated for their contribution are now celebrated for the outstanding impact their addition has brought.

Never mind those who think of your contributions as ‘stupid’. It was probably not meant for them anyway. Positive change and difference will always be needed. Each of us has it in us to make a positive change/difference, if not in this generation, then in future generations.

Make that difference, make that change — positively.

“The Spirit of Lord God is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”         Isaiah 61:1-3
